Supervision

Nudgee College has approximately 50 staff living on campus, including many families. Senior Staff bring a wealth of experience to their roles. They take an active interest in the care of the boarders and the Heads and Assistant Heads of Boarding House work hand-in-hand with House Deans from the day school to cover all aspects of the boys' development and learning.

Each boarder has his own area within a boarding house and his needs are attended to by a team of staff entrusted with the pastoral care of the boys. Each boarding house includes a Senior Female Supervisor / House Mother who provides gentle understanding for the boys while the Head and Assistant Head provide general care for boys over two or three years.

Boys are given the chance to develop their leadership skills while mixing with boys from other year levels. Senior students in Murphy and Hodda Houses live in their own precinct and enjoy the chance to help build College spirit and develop a more independent and mature lifestyle.

Study

At Nudgee College a very strong emphasis is placed on establishing and maintaining study habits necessary for students to gain the most from their time at the College. Boarders benefit from:

  • the Reach for the Stars program
  • Supervised study with active, engaged staff who monitor the boys work ethic
  • Internet connections at a personal desk for students in Years 11 and 12
  • Wireless internet facilities in all boarding houses, many of the classrooms and common spaces throughout the College
  • The Edukate program, an organisational calendar and subject organiser that allows direct teacher to student communication, available to each boarder through website login
  • Regular access to the College Library and computer rooms
  • A committed day school staff who are aware of the special needs of boarders and respond accordingly
  • Day school House Deans who monitor subject choice and academic performance
  • End of term reporting that informs parents and guardians of application to night study
  • Availability of individual tutors for all boarders

Nudgee College is proud of the holistic education it offers its boarders. To this end the College endeavours to encourage students to be the very best they can be. To organise, plan, draft and produce work that is reflective of a strong work ethic. Boarding Staff, along with highly qualified classroom teachers and knowledgeable subject Heads, many who serve on district and state panels for the Queensland Studies Authority, are committed to excellence in study and academic performance.

EduKate

Nudgee College Staff have been in-serviced in the use of the EduKate program and this is widely used to deliver relevant teaching material to the students. Boarders can access EduKate through computer points at their own desks (Year 11 and 12) or through the secure wireless network (all students).
