A GPS sport since 1971, Nudgee College Cross Country is known for developing students over their years at the College into state and national level runners. Passionately known by team members as NCXC, the cross country program has developed into one of the state and countries finest distance running squads.

After a steady beginning to the sport, Paul Schaumberg took over as coach in 1992 and organised the program for 15 years. Special mention must be made of Anthony Smith who also had great input into the development of the cross country program and its successes in the late 1990s. During this time Nudgee College won their first two premierships (1999 and 2005) and, in this golden period, also had seven individual winners and many Age Group Premierships.

Two of these teams were the first in GPS history to break 50 points for their top six runners; 45 points for the Seniors of 2005, and then a mere 37 points for the Seniors of 2006. This latter teamed dominated the race with 1st, 2nd, 3rd, and 4th finishers, a feat unheard of.

Since 2008 the team has been in the care of Maureen Toohey, and Nudgee College has been consistently in the top three finishers at GPS, including a tied win in 2010 and equal second in 2011.
