Nudgee College introduced volleyball as an unofficial GPS sport in 1991 in the McKennariey Centre fielding three age groups. Volleyball became an official GPS sport in 1994 and Nudgee College fielded teams in all age groups.

Volleyball is available to all students from Years 8–12, with students competing in various competitions throughout the year. During the GPS season, the program caters for the serious athlete and the casual, social player – as volleyball is an important sport in both these respects. Coaches are sourced from both teaching staff and Old Boys with the necessary expertise and they work closely through all stages of the program to maintain skill development and athlete progression.

Volleyball is a Term 1 sport in which the College generally fields three teams in each age division. This year interest has grown and Nudgee College will be fielding five teams in Year 8 and four teams in Year 9.

Although still in its infancy, the Volleyball Parent Support Group provides additional organisational, administrative and financial support which enables the program to provide development opportunities for athletes including our annual tour to Melbourne for the Australian Volleyball Schools Cup.

Pre-season trials and selection occur in Term 4, before the Melbourne Tour, with a week-long volleyball camp before the GPS season begins.
